Hey Emily, thanks for your comment! Indeed connecting the scale can be a bit complicated, but fitbit makes very nice user manuals and have great support. You certainly pay a premium for the “fitbit” brand but you know that you are also getting a good warranty and support. We recommend this body fat scale overall.

Hi Vera, It only comes with a USB Charging cable. If you don’t have a laptop or any USB power source, you can purchase an AC to USB adapter, those are very cheap.

Indeed, BMI is a poor metric to measure your overall fitness. it is still widely used for two main reasons:

    – It’s easy to calculate

Anyone can calculate Body mass index very easily.

    – It is correlated to body fat percentage in most cases

Unless you are a confirmed bodybuilder or have a lot of muscle mass, BMI will be correlated to your body fat percentage. It does not mean that it is very accurate, but it gives a close enough idea to use this metric, unless something more specific is required for some reason.

Hi Emilie, There are certainly more ways to increase your metabolism for fat-melting purposes ^^ Will do a post on this soon but you can:

    – Eat enough (metabolism slows down if you starve yourself)
    – Drink more water
    – Turn down your thermostat or move to a cold place ^^ (your body works more to keep warm)
    – Do HIIT workouts and high cardio in general (try squash if you are serious about burning some fat)
    – Eat spicy food (yes)
    – Get enough sleep every night

Hi, yes sweating may impact readings if your wristband is not tight enough. Wrist based heart rate monitors can always have some margin of error when it comes to measuring heart beats (around 5%), chest mounted heart rate monitors are better if only for that purpose. But they are also more expensive.

As we noted in the summary review, Yunmai’s scale is average in terms of accuracy (as far as BIA scales go). It’s priced relatively low compared to what’s out there and we feel that it’s worth the rating considering the features you get for the price.
